What's great in the job?

  • Strong Legal & Financial Protection: Hong Kong has a mandatory "Minimum Allowable Wage" (currently $5,100 PHP per month) and a strictly enforced Standard Employment Contract that guarantees timely payment and legal recourse through the Labour Department.

  • Comprehensive "Live-In" Benefits: Employers are legally required to provide free food (or a food allowance of at least $1,236), free medical treatment, and free furnished accommodation, allowing helpers to save a large portion of their salary for their families back home.

  • Generous Time Off: Helpers are entitled to one full rest day every week (usually Sunday), plus 14 statutory holidays per year and paid annual leave that increases with years of service, providing ample time for rest and socialization.

  • Skill & Career Growth: Hong Kong is a hub for NGOs and training centers that offer low-cost or free workshops in financial literacy, professional cooking, first aid, and even computer skills, helping workers prepare for a future career or business in their home country.

  • Built-in Travel: The employer must provide free round-trip airfare from the helper’s home country to Hong Kong at the start and end of the contract, as well as vacation passage for renewals, ensuring no travel costs for the worker.
